Events

An event to celebrate Europe Day was held on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at Kennedy Square in Paphos with great success.

The event, with the central message “Europe is Us”, was organised by the European Commission Representation in Cyprus, the European Parliament Office in Cyprus and Paphos Municipality. Amongst others, a “European Village” (information stands) was set up, where representatives of European institutions, Embassies of EU member states in Cyprus, European Programmes, as well as academic and local bodies, provided information on EU projects and policies.

Directorate General Growth (DGG), Ministry of Finance, was present at the event with its own information stands on the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA 2021-2027” and the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan. European Funds Directorate, Ministry of Interior, was also present at the event providing information on the Home Affairs Funds.

The event was followed by a festive programme in 28th of October Square (Town Hall Square) with a concert by the Paphos Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra, a music programme, as well as a dance performance with the participation of Folklore Groups.

In his address, Mr. Nikos Isaris, Head of the European Commission Representation in Cyprus, referred to the European vision, adding that Europe has made people equal.

The Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Phedonas Phedonos, also honoured Europe Day, highlighting the timeless value of the European vision and the EU’s decisive contribution to the progress and growth of Paphos.
