Short Description/Objective

The Project concerns the construction of the building facilities of the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship of TEPAK in Paphos and specifically, the construction of a new energy-efficient building aiming at a primary energy consumption at least 20% lower than the requirement of national legislation for nearly zero-energy buildings.

The School is accommodated on a three-story building with basement and ground floor and consists of personnel offices, service areas, open study spaces, auxiliary spaces, storage areas, specialised Labs, amphitheatres/teaching rooms, library/reading room, cafe restaurant, gym, sitting areas, parking spaces for cars, motorbikes and bikes, as well of outdoor green spaces/square at the ground floor.

The School has the capacity to accommodate up to 1,000 students, as well as 40 members of staff.

The construction of the School aims at the development and revitalisation of the region. Also, it aims at the scientific upgrade of the sector as well as the interconnection of education with the labour market needs that entails the increase of the available qualified staff to work in local and tourist units.

Moreover, along with the enhancement of the student and academic community in the city, the conditions are formed for spiritual, economic and social development with dominant phenomena being the extroversion and openness of the local society both at a national and international level.

Expected Benefits/Outcomes

Along with the development of the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship, the following benefits are expected, both for the users and the city:

• Local students that wish to attend the relevant programmes which will be housed at the School will not have to leave their city, something that will bring significant economic and other benefits, both for themselves and their families.
• The region will be upgraded and new communal green spaces will be created which will benefit all the residents.
• The local economy is strengthened as the presence of the students support the operation of numerous local businesses, such as cafeterias, restaurants, etc.
• Benefits are also expected for tourist and hotel businesses of the city which they will be able to recruit fully qualified staff to cover any deficiencies.
• The development of the pillar of the higher education will help the city and the district of Paphos to take a major leap forward, while the presence of the student and academic community in the city is the one that will help the years and decades ahead to achieve intellectual, social and economic growth.
