Short Description/Objective 

The Salina Municipal Park is located at the site of the former Residence of the Head of Larnaca District and the Chief of Police. “Salina” is an older name of the city of Larnaca, deriving from the “Salt Lake”, one of the city’s landmarks to the southwest.

The design of the park area has been carefully planned, with a view to creating a green oasis while offering facilities for recreation, rest, sports and social interaction. Hence, the park’s design took into consideration the following:

• The need for entertainment facilities
• The perspective of sustainable development and regeneration of the urban environment
• The improvement and promotion of the area by enriching the existing greenery, with appropriate landscaping and with the inclusion of modern elements that are compatible with the scenery
• The attraction of residents and visitors of all ages
• Greater accessibility and facilities for disabled persons
• The functional, aesthetic and quality improvement of the space
• The integration of the park with the surrounding area and Larnaca Municipal Garden.

Expected Benefits/Outcomes

The project will contribute to the upgrading of the urban environment thanks to the creation of a large green area in the city centre of Larnaca for residents and visitors. This green “lung” in the city of Larnaca will improve air quality and public health, whilst promoting inclusion and accessibility, especially for persons with disabilities.
