Description/Objective

The project concerns the creation of a modern cultural space in the centre of the city of Paphos, with the primary objective of highlighting, preserving, and promoting the historical and cultural identity of the area. Within this framework, the project includes full restoration, conservation, and adaptive reuse of the historic building of the Old Central Police Station, which will be transformed into a Historical Documentation Centre for the city of Paphos.

At the same time, the project includes the addition and extension of the existing building to meet the functional requirements of its new use. Furthermore, the project provides for the comprehensive redevelopment of the surrounding area, including extensive landscaping works, the creation of green and recreational spaces, the construction of pedestrian pathways and a pedestrian bridge, the installation of metal canopies, and the placement of modern urban furniture and amenities.

Expected Benefits/Outcomes

The implementation of the project is expected to create an important cultural and social landmark for both residents and visitors, enhancing the sustainability and attractiveness of Paphos’s urban centre. At the same time, it will make a substantial contribution to improving the quality of public spaces and the urban environment, offering new opportunities for cultural expression, education, and recreation.
