Short Description/Objective

The Project is implemented by the Directorate of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, with the vision of ensuring an integrated, attractive, flexible and high-quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training system, which meets the current and future needs of the Cypriot economy and society, as these arise through the constantly changing local and international economic and technological environment.

The main actions of the Project include:

• Improvement of building infrastructure (classrooms/laboratories)
• Procurement of modern equipment and modernization of laboratories
• Introduction of new curricula and new fields and specializations
• Advisory support on career development and advancement
• Internship programmes and in-service training programmes.

• Increase in the quality and attractiveness of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in order to attract a larger number of students
• Increase in the number of secondary/post-secondary education graduates
• Integrated learning through a combination of theory and practice
• Improvement of learning outcomes and reduction of school dropout rates
• Linking education with the labor market
• Maintaining a high employment rate among graduates
• Increased participation of adults in Non-Formal Vocational Education and Training Programmes (Lifelong Vocational Education and Training Programmes)
• Improvement/upgrading of the quality of teachers’ knowledge and skills.
