Short Description/Objective

The project “Strengthening the Functioning of the Welfare Benefits Administration Service” aims at the efficient and effective management of all social welfare benefits, as part of the State’s modern social policy, in order to provide a holistic and essential safety net for those who truly need it, safeguarding in this way the fundamental human right to decent living and improving the quality of life of citizens belonging to vulnerable groups.

The actions aimed to modernise the functioning of the Service include, amongst others, the development of modern information systems and artificial intelligence tools, as well as the creation of a web platform and a digital app.

Expected Benefits/Outcomes

The expected benefits/outcomes of the project are as follows:

• Upgrade the standard of services offered to citizens
• Achieve synergies and coordination in the provision of benefits through the establishment of a Single Register of Beneficiaries
• Rational implementation of government policy in the field of social welfare benefits
• Continuous improvement of social policy strategies, based on the monitoring of international developments as well as social and economic conditions in Cyprus
• Evaluate the benefits and measures provided in relation to the objectives pursued
• Provide incentives to social welfare beneficiaries to promote their integration or reintegration into the labour market and end their reliance on benefits.
