On Thursday, 11/09/2025, Aradippou Municipality inaugurated the co-funded project “Construction of a Photovoltaic Park in Aradippou Municipality”, in the presence of the President of the Republic, the Minister of Interior, the Mayor of Aradippou and numerous officials.
The project, with a capacity of 2.96MW and covering an area of 46,866 square metres, has a total budget of €3.8 million and was implemented under the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA2021-2027”, co-funded by the EU.
The project’s main objective contributes to achieving European and national targets for the green transition and promoting energy use from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) toward a low-carbon economy.
In his address, the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, emphasised that the green transition is both a national and European priority and described the project of Aradippou Municipality as a millestone for the local government, demonstrating how municipalities can lead in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Mayor of Aradippou, Mr. Christodoulos Partou, stated in his address that the photovoltaic park places Aradippou Municipality on the path toward green development, with the ambition of becoming the first municipality in Cyprus to achieve zero energy consumption.
With the Photovoltaic Park, Aradippou Municipality is laying the foundations for a new model of sustainable energy, guided by vision, social responsibility, and commitment to the European climate and energy targets.
