The inauguration of the co-funded project of the New Municipal Home for the Elderly (Melathron) “Evanthia Pieridou” in Larnaca, organised by Larnaca Municipality, took place on Friday, 09/01/2026, in the presence of the President of the Republic, members of the Government and the House of Representatives, local authorities, and numerous invited guests.
Named in honour of Evanthia Pieridou, a modest tribute to the distinguished benefactress of Larnaca whose selfless contribution played a decisive role in the city’s development, the Melathron is a modern care facility for senior citizens. The project, with a total budget of €6 million, was implemented under the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA 2021–2027”, co-funded by the EU.
The facility can accommodate up to 48 residents, providing comfort, safety, and dignified living conditions, in a supportive environment that encourages social interaction and creative engagement for senior citizens.
