On Sunday, 12 May 2024, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and  Environment inaugurated the co-funded project of the “Regeneration/Upgrade of the Park along Gauguin Street”, in the presence of the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nicos Nicolaides, other officials and a large number of citizens. The inauguration was organised by Limassol Municipality.

The ceremony was preceded by an artistic programme with the Youth Jazz Orchestra of the Limassol Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra and the choir of Papadakeio Municipal Conservatory, and a consecration ceremony performed by Bishop Athanasios of Limassol. 

The project of the regeneration/upgrade of the park, with a total budget of €2.3 million, was implemented under the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA2021-2027”,  co-funded by the EU. It is the second largest park in the city of Limassol after the Public Garden, with a total area of 10,000 sq.m. The project focuses on restoring the infrastructure as well as enriching and upgrading the park’s greenery, aiming to create a sustainable and functional public space.

It is worth noting that, thanks to the park, Limassol Municipality has won the “Green City of Cyprus” award, bestowed by the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE).
