The inauguration was organised by TEPAK and the Paphos Municipality.

The Project, of a total budget of €20.3 million, which was implemented under the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA 2021-2027”, co-funded by the EU, was launched in September 2023. More specifically, the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Digital Business, as well as the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism opened their doors. The Faculty’s students in the academic year 2023-2024 include the first-year students admitted to the Faculty’s undergraduate programmes of study (Degree in Hotel Management and Tourism and Degree in Management) and all the students enrolled in the three-year programmes of study of the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (Culinary Arts and Hotel and Tourism Management). The TEPAK currently hosts a total of 300 students and this number is expected to gradually increase to 1,000.

In his speech, the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, said that the establishment of a new TEPAK Faculty  based in Paphos and the construction of the building that houses its facilities are major milestones in the history of higher education in Cyprus, in the progress of TEPAK and the long history of the city and the district of Paphos.

In his address, the Rector of TEPAK, Professor Panayiotis Zaphiris, described the establishment of the Faculty in Paphos, in one of the most state-of-the-art buildings in Cyprus, as an important milestone, which marks the University’s expansion to a new city and its commitment to provide high-quality education and training in the fields of tourism, hospitality and entrepreneurship.

The Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Phedonas Phedonos, stated that the University is by far the greatest project that can change the course of a small city and this is also true in the case of Paphos, which celebrates today the opening of a public university faculty in a magnificent edifice.

For his part, the President of the TEPAK Board, Dr. Christos Chomatas, said that we are celebrating the completion of a major construction project while launching a new, even greater venture, that of contributing to the knowledge society.

During the ceremony, architect Eraclis Papachristou presented the project. The ceremony also included an artistic programme with songs by Paphos Music School.

In the context of the inauguration ceremony, a photographic exhibition titled “Photographic Footprints – Photographic Memories of the History of Tourism in Cyprus: 1878-1974”, organised by TEPAK’s School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship, opened to the public. The exhibition will be open until 31 January 2024.
