On 05/11/2025, the inauguration ceremony of the new building facilities of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Cyprus took place.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Mr Tasos Christofides, and the Chairman of the Council, Mr Tasos S. Anastasiou. The European Commission was represented by the Director-General of DG REGIO, Mrs Themis Christofidou.
The new facilities provide students and researchers with a modern, sustainable, and energy-efficient environment for learning, research and innovation.
The EU has played a decisive role in the implementation of the project, as the construction of the Faculty of Engineering research laboratories was co-funded by Cohesion Policy funds. Specifically, Phase A was co-funded by the EU under the 2014–2020 Cohesion Policy Programmes, while Phase B was co-funded under the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA 2021–2027.”
