The Directorate General Growth of the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Directorate of Financial Control of European Funds of the Treasury of the Republic, successfully organised a three-day training seminar in Nicosia, from 23 to 25 April 2025. The aim was to enhance the knowledge and skills of stakeholders involved in the selection and implementation of public procurement projects under the co-funded Programmes “THALIA 2021-2027” and “Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021-2027”.
During the seminar, key topics including the following were presented:
- The Management and Control System
- Legal and procedural requirements for public procurement
- Prevention and management of risks related to fraud, corruption and conflicts of interest
- Eligibility of expenditure, verification procedures, cash flows and establishing the audit trail
- Compatibility of projects with national and EU environmental policies, as well as with the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union
- The Communication Guide.
The presentations were delivered by officers from Directorate General Growth, the Directorate of Financial Control of European Funds, the Public Procurement Directorate of the Treasury, the Department of Environment and the Office of the Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman).
On the third day, participants received practical training in the use of the Management Information System (MIS).
Participation was very satisfactory, with keen interest and active engagement. The seminar has contributed to strengthening the administrative capacity of the stakeholders and promoting the transparent and effective implementation of the co-funded projects.
