April 4, 2025

The Directorate General Growth of the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Directorate of Financial Control of European Funds at the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus, successfully organised on Friday, 4 April 2025, a training seminar in Nicosia on the topic of “Verification and Conflict of Interest Procedures for Grant Schemes, in the framework of the implementation of the Co-funded Programmes ‘THALIA 2021-2027’ and ‘Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021-2027’”.
The seminar was attended by officers from the Intermediate Bodies responsible for implementing and monitoring the Grant Schemes, as well as by the Internal Audit Service, and aimed to strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation and awareness on critical management processes of the co-funded Programmes.
During the workshop, basic verification procedures, control findings, as well as the mechanisms for preventing and addressing fraud, corruption, dual funding and conflict of interest were presented. Risk assessment procedures and the management of irregularities and complaints under the 2021–2027 Programming Period were also discussed in detail.
The interactive nature of the workshop, which encouraged the active engagement of participants through practical examples and targeted discussions, was particularly well received. The exchange of experiences and the deepening of understanding of the procedures added substantial value to the benefits of the seminar.
The seminar is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the administrative capacity of stakeholders and promote the sound management of European funds.
